Prepare before you ship.

Use the current KEBS programme guidance to establish whether PVoC applies and whether a specific exemption or different inspection arrangement is relevant. The 2026 operations manual provides the current procedural reference; do not rely on an old provider list or informal exemption claim.

Review the product’s intended use, construction and technical characteristics against Kenyan standards or accepted specifications. Build a requirements record before testing. A supplier’s generic quality certificate may not demonstrate conformity of the particular goods being exported.

Agree the required documents, sampling and inspection arrangements with the authorized provider. Keep goods accessible and traceable to the application. If a laboratory report covers several models, explain which variants are included in this consignment.

The certificate must correspond to the consignment actually supplied. Check manufacturer, exporter, importer, model identifiers and quantities across the file. Treat packing or order changes as a reason to review the application rather than assuming they are administratively irrelevant.

A CoC is evidence within the import conformity process. It does not replace customs declarations, other sector permissions or the importer’s obligations. Confirm the complete import plan with the Kenya counterpart and retain a verifiable copy of the assessment records.

For repeat shipments, maintain a current product dossier and a separate consignment checklist. We can help identify missing evidence, coordinate technical responses and track changes. Any simplified route must still follow the programme rules and provider assessment.
